The Corporal Daegan Page Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of Garrett Ross as our new, and first, Part-Time Executive Director. This appointment marks a pivotal moment in our journey, underscoring our commitment to expanding our reach and enhancing our programs, including the ambitious Anchor Commons project.
Garrett’s connection to the foundation is profound and personal. As the brother of USMC Corporal Daegan Page, Garrett embodies the spirit and values at the heart of our mission. His deep-rooted passion for community service and leadership is evident in his impressive history of supporting those in need. From his early days as an Eagle Scout to significant roles aiding refugee families and directing efforts at large non-profit organizations, Garrett has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead with compassion and effectiveness.
In the wake of losing his brother, Garrett transformed his grief into action, playing a crucial role in establishing the Corporal Daegan Page Foundation. His initiative in setting up a online memorial fund and a website to honor his brother’s life and sacrifice was the genesis of our foundation. Under his leadership, we look forward to not only continuing our support for our mission community, but also expanding our impact through new initiatives and collaborations.
Garrett’s appointment as Executive Director is more than a new chapter in professional leadership; it is a continuation of a heartfelt commitment to a cause that touches many lives. We are confident that with Garrett at the helm, the foundation will forge new paths to serve our community while honoring the legacy of love and sacrifice that Daegan left behind.
We invite our community, supporters, and partners to join us in welcoming Garrett to this new role. Together, we will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our veterans and their families.
Brother of USMC Cpl. Daegan Page
Garrett's entire life has been community centered and dedicated to helping others. An Eagle Scout he had a very active scouting presence as a leader at troop and council levels. At Millard South High School he continuously demonstrated leadership as a DECA board member, school store manager, peer mediation counselor, and as a member of LEO (Lions) club, environmental club, and the principals advisory board.
In his early 20's Garrett joined the AmeriCorps serving refugee families, furnishing apartments and assisting with basic household tasks. He then became a refugee reception & placement case manager where he received & assisted special immigrant visa (brave and trusted people who had helped the Allied troops during the war and whose lives were now in danger) recipients from Iraq and Afghanistan into the Omaha metro area. Looking to broaden his community reach, Garrett pivoted his career path and spent several years as a director at one of the region's largest homeless shelters and is now in management at a nonprofit homebuilder. Over the years Garrett has served on other nonprofit boards (religious and food based), been active in the volunteer management consortium, and volunteered his time for several other organizations.
In the days following the death of his younger brother, Corporal Daegan Page, Garrett realized he needed to turn his grief into action. He was amazed by the support of the local community, the nation, and the asks for direction on giving to a memorial fund in Daegan's honor. Garrett took the initiative to build a website to showcase his brothers life and sacrifice, as well as set up online donation processing to fulfill this request. That memorial fund turned into the Corporal Daegan Page Foundation.
